About the Augusta Marathon - 5K/10K/Half/Full - Running Festival
The course runs out from a National Guard camp along a rural highway toward Belgrade Lakes and back, so you get a genuine out-and-back through open Maine countryside rather than laps around a park. It is USATF sanctioned and Boston certified, which tells you the course is measured precisely. There is no time limit, so anyone working through a longer effort can do so without pressure.
The start area is at the camp grounds, with plenty of parking nearby. Runners who bring personal bottles can drop them at the operations tent before the gun, and those bottles will be staged at water stations along the route. A vendor area opens at the finish for runners and families.
