About the Athens Academy Spartan 5K and Spartan Sprint
The course is built for speed, finishing with a long downhill stretch that pulls you through to the end. It is the kind of course where runners tend to run faster than they expected. The superhero theme carries through to race morning, and costumes show up in real numbers, though nobody is required to wear one.
Packet pickup and registration happen inside the Tilman Center on race morning. Buses shuttle runners to the starting line before the gun, so arriving early matters. Handmade pottery from a local studio goes to award winners rather than the usual hardware.
