About the Ashland Harvest Run/Walk 10K/5K

The course runs through Ashland's streets and trails, mixing pavement with natural terrain in what the organizers call the Center of the Universe. Both distances start and finish at Carter Park, so the crowd there bookends your whole morning. Fall foliage is the backdrop, and the routes are certified, so the distances are accurate.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a to-be-announced location, with race-morning pickup at Carter Park as a backup. Day-of registration is also available. Post-race, there are prizes drawn for participants, and top finishers in both distances earn cash awards.

Common Questions About the Ashland Harvest Run/Walk 10K/5K

Will I finish last at the Ashland Harvest Run/Walk 10K/5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 37:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ashland Harvest Run/Walk 10K/5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (149 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ashland Harvest Run/Walk 10K/5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:21 while the median finisher took 37:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
