About the Asbury Park Sheehan Classic 5K

The course is certified and runs on roads before finishing on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. It is flat throughout, which tends to draw people going after a fast time. The race is named for Dr. George Sheehan, a Shore running legend, and the opening ceremony takes place at Bradley Park, where the awards are held afterward as well.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a running store in Little Silver, and the organizers push hard for people to go then rather than wait until race morning. There is a raffle at the store that evening. Race-morning pickup opens at Bradley Park well before the start. Kids races follow the main event, with an awards ceremony in the park shortly after.
