About the Altra Sole of the City 10K

The course runs along Baltimore's Inner Harbor and out into the surrounding neighborhoods, so you get water views and city streets in the same loop. It starts and finishes at Harbor Point, and the whole thing happens at the height of spring, when the waterfront is easy to be around.

After the finish, there is a post-race party with drinks, snacks, and a DJ. The area around Harbor Point has plenty going on, so sticking around after feels natural rather than forced.

Common Questions About the Altra Sole of the City 10K

Will I finish last at the Altra Sole of the City 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 6.2137 Miles field finished slower than 1:02:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:04:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Altra Sole of the City 10K a good first 6.2137 Miles?

With 2,432 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 6.2137 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Altra Sole of the City 10K?

The 6.2137 Miles winner ran 30:51 while the median finisher took 1:02:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
