About the Altavista On Track Giblet Jog 5K
The course runs through English Park and back toward the far end of it, all along the Staunton River. The terrain is flat, so most runners carry a faster pace than usual, and the river makes for a quieter backdrop than you might expect from a Thanksgiving morning race. Proceeds go toward downtown revitalization efforts.
Packet pickup runs at the Altavista YMCA on the couple of days before the race, with morning and evening windows on both days. Race-day registration and the post-race awards ceremony both take place at the Booker Building.
