About the Alpha Pi 5k
The course threads through a college campus and into Washington Park, keeping things familiar and contained. The terrain is straightforward, and the route does not stray far from the school grounds. The race is put on entirely by a campus fraternity chapter, and the proceeds support after-school and summer programs for kids in the area.
There is not much distance between the campus and the park, so spectators can move around easily. The start area is rooted at the college, which gives the morning a campus-event feel rather than a road-race-production feel.
