About the Alana's Eternal Light 5K
The course starts at CrossWind Community Church and winds through the neighborhood where Alana VanMeter grew up, passing her home before following her old school bus route back. The race is held at sunset, and organizers ask runners to wear purple, her favorite color. The sky tends to do its part.
The start and finish are at the church, so the post-race gathering has a natural center. This one draws people who knew Alana and people who did not, and the mood on course reflects that, quiet in places, warm throughout.
