About the Air Line Trail Ghost Run

The course runs south from Hebron Elementary School along a road before picking up the Air Line Trail, a packed-stone and gravel path that cuts through rural forest and passes through a couple of small towns before finishing at a school in East Hampton. The trail stretch is long and mostly flat, with a wooded, quiet character throughout.

The race requires preregistration, and there is no day-of option. Bib pickup runs the afternoon before at the parks office in Hebron. Shuttle buses connect the start and finish in both directions, which matters since the course is point-to-point. A relay option splits the route into legs for teams.

Common Questions About the Air Line Trail Ghost Run

Will I finish last at the Air Line Trail Ghost Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 1:58:51, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:19:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Air Line Trail Ghost Run a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 213 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Air Line Trail Ghost Run?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:22:13 while the median finisher took 1:58:51. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
