About the Achilles New Jersey Hope & Possibility

This race is held in memory of a local athlete and reflects the Achilles mission closely: the field includes wheelchair users, runners with physical and sensory disabilities, military veterans, and people doing their first event of any kind. The course is open to those who run, walk, or roll, and the atmosphere follows from that mix rather than from a finish-time leaderboard.

Parking in the main park area fills early, so overflow lots on Rochelle Ave are set up nearby at a school and a Knights of Columbus hall. Both are within easy reach of the start.

Common Questions About the Achilles New Jersey Hope & Possibility

Will I finish last at the Achilles New Jersey Hope & Possibility?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:07:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:12:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Achilles New Jersey Hope & Possibility a good first 10K?

A field of 208 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Achilles New Jersey Hope & Possibility?

The 10K winner ran 39:03 while the median finisher took 1:07:21. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
