The course heads out from the park and museum grounds, crosses the Red River into the neighboring state, passes through a small town on the other side, then turns around at a creek and retraces the same path back. The route winds gently through historic territory on both sides of the river. The course is USATF certified, which competitive runners tend to appreciate.
