The course follows the Mahaska County Recreation Trail through Oskaloosa, dipping onto city streets in a few spots before returning to the path. It is hilly, and the hills are real, but the surrounding scenery makes them easier to take. The route starts and finishes at a community stadium, so spectators have an easy place to gather.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local emergency management building, with race-morning pickup available at the start line for those who need it. The stadium location means parking is spread out and straightforward, which helps when arrivals are staggered across the distance options.
