About the 5K Pumpkin Run & Munchkin Mile
The course runs through Malone Recreational Park on trail, with autumn foliage as the backdrop. Both distances share a central pavilion as the start and finish, so the area stays busy throughout the morning. One of the stranger traditions here is the pumpkin pile at the start: any runner who carries one the whole way gets to keep it.
Pumpkin-themed outfits are part of the culture at this race. The shorter kids' distance lets parents run alongside at no extra cost, and younger participants decorate a pumpkin after finishing. Prize drawings are open to all finishers, not just the fastest.
