About the 5k Nevermore
This one runs at dusk and into dark on the trails at the Baseline Trail Head in Ocala. The path winds through stretches of Spanish moss, and as the light goes, gothic lanterns mark the way. It is a trail experience shaped around atmosphere rather than speed, with costumes encouraged alongside the running.
The race starts in the early evening, timed so the last runners finish well after dark. There is a shorter distance for younger kids running with supervision, and the main course is chip-timed with age group awards. A best costume prize goes to whoever commits hardest to their Edgar Allan Poe character.
