About the 5K For the Children
The course runs along Pleasant Street Beach with Nantucket Sound in view for much of the route. It is a scenic stretch, open and breezy, the kind of terrain that rewards a steady pace over raw speed. The race benefits children's hospitals, so the crowd skews toward families and people who come out for the cause as much as the clock.
The after-party is in the beach parking lot, with barbecue from a local sponsor and beer for registered participants. It lingers a while, which is part of the point.
