About the 5K for Ballet!

The course starts and finishes at the Haddam Neck Fairgrounds, looping out onto country roads that are mostly flat with a couple of moderate rises and one sharp drop on the way back. A costume contest runs alongside the race, with prizes for the best dressed, and strollers are welcome on the course.

Bib pickup opens before the start on race morning. Walkers check in at the fairgrounds but do not need a bib. Parking is at the fairgrounds itself, so there is no shuttle or remote lot to navigate.

Common Questions About the 5K for Ballet!

Will I finish last at the 5K for Ballet!?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 31:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 48:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 5K for Ballet! a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (51 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 5K for Ballet!?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:33 while the median finisher took 31:52. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
