About the 49 Miles of HOPE 5k/10k/49 Miler/Relay/Fun Run
The course is a crushed gravel loop at Kimberley Park, a short drive from downtown Winston-Salem. Everyone runs the same ground repeatedly, which means you pass the same faces over and over, including the man whose birthday the whole thing is built around. Distance options range from a short fun run up through a full relay and a solo ultra, all sharing the same loop.
Food and snacks are set up on site after the race, and the post-race gathering is a genuine part of the day. Proceeds go directly to HOPE of Winston-Salem, a local organization that distributes meals and fresh produce to food-insecure families, so the finish line conversation tends to reflect that.
