About the 3 Bridges 5K & 10K

The course follows a paved out-and-back path along the river levee, crossing several bridges over the Savannah River and the canal that runs beside it. Parts of the trail are dirt, so expect a mixed surface underfoot. The surroundings are open and waterside for most of the route, and both distance options start and finish at Lake Olmstead Trailhead.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available at the start. Parking is in the lot beside the start line, with overflow on a grass lot across the street. Signs guide you in, but avoid the Humane Society lot next door.

Common Questions About the 3 Bridges 5K & 10K

Will I finish last at the 3 Bridges 5K & 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 39:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:02:49, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 3 Bridges 5K & 10K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 263 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 3 Bridges 5K & 10K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:40 while the median finisher took 39:23. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
